The Quora Partner Program is a Scam

I was invited to the Quora Partner Program about a year ago. I didn’t think much of it because I’m not the type of person who likes to ask questions. I prefer to answer them. So I asked only about a handful of questions (about five if I recall correctly) before I stopped logging in completely. After about a year when I checked my Spam folder, I opened one of those “Your Quora Partner Program Earnings”-mails. Apparently one of those questions that I asked got fairly popular and managed to accumulate about 37 bucks in earnings. “Not too bad”, I thought and so I decided to see what would happen if I were to ask more questions. Keep in mind that I hadn’t linked my Paypal account to the Partner Program at that point in time. So I haven’t received any money.
At first, I wasn’t too thrilled about asking questions for monetary gain. It seemed dirty and odd. But after some mental adjustment, I managed to ask about 10 questions daily to get those numbers up. Eventually, I started to ask more questions. Around 20–25. And once I got the hang of it I was asking around 80–100 questions daily. I know, this might seem completely ridiculous but it’s the truth. Asking questions became like a sport to me and I wanted to go to the Olympics. After about a month of rigorous question-asking, I have posted a little over 2000 questions on that platform. If you’re wondering what kind of earnings that would translate to, here are a couple of screenshots:
Anyway, two days before payday they kicked me out of the partner program. Without any prior warning or anything. They just removed me from the partner program. Let’s just say that I wasn’t too thrilled about that. I was pretty pissed because I wanted to buy an engagement ring with that extra money (I’m still going to buy that engagement ring, don’t worry). So, I did what every sane person would do in such a situation and contacted their support team. Long story short: they accused me of foul play and told me that they weren’t going to pay out my earnings. When I inquired about the whole ordeal they were neither able to provide proof for their claims nor were they willing to specify what they accused me of. It’s rather bizarre.
If I was still using the website I would post the following question:
“Where the f*ck’s my money?!”
To conclude: Yes, the Quora Partner Program is a scam. Just because some people are getting paid that doesn’t mean that it’s not a scam. Even in a pyramid scheme, people are getting paid. That doesn’t make it any less of a scam, though. You’re being hustled out of your time without any compensation in the Quora Partner Program.
I don’t think I’ll ever use the website again. I have already stopped answering questions on Quora about a year ago when I posted this blog post:
And now I’m definitely not going to post any more questions on that platform. Just to be clear about it; I have been invited to many partnership programs over the years and this is the first one that I got kicked out of and also the first one where I wasn’t compensated for my service.
I wish I could say that I’m surprised but this is exactly how the folks at Quora do business. They shoot first and don’t ask questions. Because that’s what the users are good for; asking questions to bring in traffic.
F*ck this sh!t.
The worst thing about Quora is that they basically extract their user's time and expertise without any compensation. Think about it; every answer and every question that you post on that website basically belongs to the platform. You can’t even delete your own content. WTF?!
That’s pretty twisted.
p.s.
Did any of you guys have similar experiences with the website?
